PIKEVILLE, KY LORETTA LYNN’S HOMEPLACE
Join us as we remember the Feud and the Families! The Hatfield & McCoys are known for Feudin and Fussin, is it all over…..? Join us for an exciting three days to experience it for yourself. While in the area we will visit Loretta Lynn’s Homeplace, Butcher Holler!
1 SHENANDOAH VALLEY / BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS: We leave today and make our way through the Shenandoah Valley and into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where we stay in Wytheville.
2 VIRGINIA / PIKEVILLE: Our Journey begins by traveling through rural Southwest Virginia on our way to Pikeville, Kentucky for the next 2 nights. Once we arrive in Pikeville we will visit the Pikeville Cut – Through Project which is the second largest earth removal project in the Nation. We will check into our hotel and enjoy a catered Dinner. After dinner we will walk down to Pikeville’s “Main Street Live” where we will enjoy nostalgia music from the golden age.
3 PAINTSVILLE / BUTCHER HOLLER: This morning we will depart the hotel and head toward Paintsville, Kentucky where we will visit the US 23 Country Music Museum, Webb’s General Store and Lorretta Lynn’s homeplace, “Butcher Holler”! This afternoon you will have time at Pikeville’s Farmers Market where you can enjoy live music, reenactors, local arts & crafts, meet actual descendants from both the Hatfield & McCoy families and a Pig Roast! We will visit the Big Sandy Heritage Museum which has tons of Hatfield & McCoy Artifacts. Tonight we will take part in the Annual Hatfield & McCoy Reunion Dinner.
4 FEUD SITES / HOMEWARD BOUND: Today we will visit some of the Historic Hatfield & McCoy Feud Sites. These will include the Hog trail site where reenactors will be doing a presentation as well as the McCoy Well site where descendants from both families will be conducting a worship service. We will enjoy lunch at the South Williamson Steak House before traveling home with all the knowledge we have learned of the Feud and the wonderful memories we have of beautiful Pikeville, Kentucky.
