Step Back in time with us as we visit the Deep South’s Antebellum Era. Take in the aroma of Spring and witness the resurrection of Fern Covered Oak Trees that are draped in Spanish Moss. Enjoy a glass of Sweet Tea, Lemonade or Mint Julip. Ride along, relax and enjoy the true “Southern Comforts”.

1 SOUTHBOUND / ALABAMA: We Spring South today passing by the Great Smoky Mountains and Chattanooga, Tennessee and skip through Georgia as we make our way to the capitol city of Montgomery, Alabama to spend the night.

2 MONTGOMERY / MOBILE: We begin today with a brief stop at the State Capitol Building then head across the street to visit the First White House of the Confederacy. We then make our way down the block to the Civil Rights Memorial that honors those who gave their life in the struggle for equality. Later its on to the port city of Mobile where we will enjoy a locally guided tour and spend the night.

3 BELLINGRATH GARDENS / BEAUVOIR / BILOXI: As we make our way further south we stop and take a Self-Guided tour of Bellingrath Gardens & Home. This 900-acre estate encompasses 65-acres of sculpted gardens and a house tour to which the late Walter and Bessie Bellingrath lived. Walter was the President of the local Coca-Cola bottling plant. After lunch we will make our way to Biloxi, Mississippi along the Gulf of Mexico where we will stop in at “Beauvoir”, post war home to Jefferson Davis. We spend the night in this beautiful town along the Mississippi Sound.

4 FRENCH QUARTER / STEAMBOAT NATCHEZ: This morning we cross Lake Pontchartrain to enter the Crescent City of New Orleans. We will begin our visit in the oldest section of the city with a walk through the Vieux Carre-French Quarter from Bourbon Street with its many restaurants and unique shops, to Jackson Square. Whether you visit St. Louis Cathedral, The Cabildo-Louisiana state Museum where the Louisiana Purchase was signed or have a beignet and cafe au lait at Cafe Du Monde, you are sure to enjoy all the lively atmosphere that surrounds you. Dinner and entertainment tonight will be provided aboard the Steamboat Natchez. We spend the next two nights in New Orleans

5 NEW ORLEANS: We begin our day joined by a local guide of both the French and English side of New Orleans where we will learn the history and culture of the Cajun and Creole people. Some highlights include; The Garden District, Canal Street, St. Louis Cemetery and much more. This afternoon we are off to the Jean Lafitte National Historic Park to explore Louisiana’s back country and Bayous aboard a Guided Swamp Tour. This evening is yours to enjoy.

6 NATCHEZ: Today we head north to Natchez, Mississippi where the river is wide and the history is deep. Natchez is one of the oldest European settlements along the lower Mississippi River Valley.

We also enjoy some southern hospitality on a Pilgrimage Tour through this quaint Antebellum Capital of the world. We will visit a few of the beautiful mansions and learn the roles Natchez has played in our history. We spend the night in this charming southern city.

7 VICKSBURG / MERIDIAN: We head East today and stop at Vicksburg National Military Park where we are accompanied by a guide that will share with us the history of the forty-seven day siege. We will visit the Cairo Muesum and see over 1,400 Monuments and Memorials, perhaps you can pick out one from your home state. Meridian, Mississippi, with its glorious Magnolia Trees is where we will spend our final night together.

8 HOMEWARD BOUND: This morning we head back home with our deep appreciation of all the places we have visited, the atmosphere we encountered, to the food we ate, all of the true “Southern Comforts”.
