1 SHENANDOAH VALLEY / BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS:
We leave today and make our way through the Shenandoah Valley and into the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia where we spend the night in Wytheville, Virginia.
2 CHARLESTON / COLUMBUS / TOLEDO:
We head North to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for our journey on the Agawa Canyon Canadian Train. Our journey today takes us through West Virginia and we pass through the capital of Ohio, Columbus, before arriving in Toledo where we spend the night.
3 MICHIGAN / DETROIT / SAULT STE:
This morning we continue north and enter Michigan. We pass through “Motor City” – Detroit – on our way north to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Lunch today will be in Frankenmuth, “Michigan’s Little Bavaria” Later this afternoon, we cross “Big Mac” bridge. It is a five mile long man-made spectacle. From the bridge we can see Mackinaw Island. A short time after we cross “Big Mac” we arrive at our destination for the next three nights in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
4 ALGOMA CENTRAL CANADIAN TRAIN:
Today is the Day! We board our car on the Algoma Central Railroad, and begin a long journey to be remembered! Enjoy an incredible experience as we travel through the rugged wilderness of Algoma Country. Lunch is included on board the train. We spend another night in Sault Ste. Marie.
5 LAKE SUPERIOR / INTERPRETIVE CENTER / CANADIAN CARVER:
Today we depart for a sightseeing day along Lake Superior with a step-on Interpretive Guide. This is a spectacular drive right along the coast of Lake Superior named one of the ” Top Ten Drives” in Canada. We later explore the Lake Superior Interpretive Center, a unique facility dedicated to the history and geography of Lake Superior. Lunch today is provided at Lake Shore Salzburger Hof Resort, featuring authentic German/ Austrian cuisine. Again we spend the night in Sault St. Marie.
6 PINCONNING "CHEESE HOUSE" / FRANKENMUTH / TOLEDO:
This morning we leave the Canadian countryside heading south to Ohio. We stop at Pinconning, Michigan for a visit to the cheese and fudge shop. We continue south to Toledo where we spend our last night on the road.
7 WYTHEVILLE:
Today we travel across West Virginia towards home stopping in Wytheville for the night.
8 HOMEWARD BOUND:
We depart Wytheville with our memories of the Canadian Agawa Canyon Train and the beauty and history of the northern Ontario Wilderness.
