1 NEW YORK CITY:

We depart Virginia this morning passing through Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey before arriving in New York City for a 3-night stay. Our accommodations will be at the Hotel Belleclaire. Steeped in architectural history, this Upper West Side hotel is just steps away from Central Park. Dinner will be provided for you this evening.

2 MANHATTAN TOUR / BIRLAND JAZZ CLUB:

After breakfast we depart the hotel with a local guide for a full day tour all about “Building America”. On our tour we will explore the lives of the titans of American Business. John Jacob Astor, Cornelius Vanderbilt, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, J.P. Morgan and more! On our tour we will discover their inspiring rise to great fortune and power, the dynamics of the empires they built, and the power struggles between them. We will travel through Millionaire’s row to see some of their lavish mansions, elite private social clubs, and museums that house treasures of the self-made American Royalty. We will also see the J.P. Morgan House, Grand Central Station, and the New York Public Library. Tonight, you will be treated to dinner and a show at the Birdland Jazz Club.

3 CARNEGIE MANSION / THE MET / THE PLAYERS CLUB:

Another full day of touring is in store for you today featuring the Heyday of High Society. Our tour will include the Carnegie Mansion and Plaza Hotel. This 64- room mansion built from 1899 to 1902, is an impressive testament to the desire of Carnegie and his wife, to build a spacious, comfortable, and light filled home. You will also have time for shopping on 5th avenue, before we visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While touring the “MET” you will enjoy nearly two million works of art spanning over 5,000 years! Lunch today will be included at The Players Club, an 1847 Gothic Revival-style mansion on Gramercy Park. This evening you will have free time to explore the city and have dinner on your own.

4 HOMEWARD BOUND:

We depart New York City this morning traveling back through New Jersey and Pennsylvania with all the knowledge of “Old Money” and the Men who Built America!
