1 SECAUCUS / ROCKEFELLER CENTER CHRISTMAS TREE:
We depart this morning and make our way through Virginia, and Pennsylvania before crossing over into New Jersey where we will spend the night in Secaucus. Tonight, we will take you inside New York City to see the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and have dinner on your own near Times Square.
2 NEWPORT:
This morning we continue North making our way through Connecticut and into Rhode Island where we will spend the next two nights near Newport. tonight we will treat you to dinner at la Fore Restaurant.
3 NEWPORT/MARBLE HOUSE/BREAKERS:
Today we will be joined by “Mrs. Caroline Astor” the Grande Dame of Newport and New York Society. Our local “Themed” guide will give us a Newport Mansions Driving Tour of Ten Mile Ocean Drive and along the sea where the most famous of the “American Aristocracy” had built their splendid summer palaces. We enjoy a tour of the Marble House, built in 1892 at a cost estimated to be 11 million dollars, because the home of Alba Vanderbilt. The walls of the ballrooms are gilded with 22 carat gold and the floors are marble. After lunch we also visit the Breakers Mansion, home of Cornelius Vanderbilt II. This Italian Renaissance-style palace boasts a display of rich marbles, exquisite mosaic floors and ceilings and panoramic ocean views. Dinner will be provided for you at Sardello’s before we head back to the Breakers for their “Sparking Lights”.
4 BLITHEWOLD / SECAUCUS:
We depart our hotel this morning and make our way to the Blithewold Mansion. Here we will enjoy Tea in their dining room before being treated to a tour of the Mansion. Every year “Christmas at Blithewold” transforms into a dazzling display celebrating the magic of Christmas. Afterward, we make our way back to Secaucus, NJ where we will spend the night.
5 HOME:
Today we make our way back home with all the wonderful memories of Newport,Rhode Island, and a Gilded Age Christmas.
