1 INDIANAPOLIS, IN:

We depart Virginia this morning and make our way through West Virginia and Ohio traveling to Indianapolis, IN where we will spend the night.

2 CHICAGO / DINNER DETECTIVE:

This morning we depart our hotel and continue making our way North heading toward Chicago. We arrive in Chicago and drop you off near the Navy Pier just in time for lunch. Tonight, we will treat you to a one-of-a-kind dinner show at the “Dinner Detective”. We will overnight in Chicago.

3 ROUTE 66 HALL OF FAME / ST. LOUIS:

Our first stop this morning will be the Route 66 Hall of Fame. This museum features thousands of artifacts and memorabilia related to Route 66. Here you will have the opportunity for a photo op with the largest Route 66 shield mural! Afterward we will continue to St. Louis where we will enjoy a one-hour riverboat tour before checking into our St. Louis area hotel for the night.

4 CUBA / CAR MUSEUM / JOPLIN:

This morning we continue our journey west making our way to Cuba, Missouri – known as “Route 66 Mural City.” Here we will see 12 large outdoor murals depicting scenes from local and national history. Images include Harry Truman, Amelia Earhart, and Bette Davis. This afternoon we will visit the 20,000 square foot Route 66 car museum in Springfield before heading to Joplin, MO where we will view even more historic Murals before treating you to dinner at Wilder’s Steakhouse and checking into our hotel in Joplin for the night.

5 TOTEM POLE PARK / TULSA / OKLAHOMA CITY:

Today we make our way into Oklahoma! Our first stop this morning will be Totem Pole Park in Chelsea, OK. Listed on the register of National Historic Places, Ed Galloway’s Totem Pole Park is located 3.5 miles off the Mother Road. All the art objects are made of stone or concrete, and reinforced with steel rebar and wood. We then take a quick photo stop at Tulsa’s Giant Blue Whale sculpture and the Mother Road Market for some shopping. This afternoon we make our way to Oklahoma City where we will treat you to dinner at Toby Keith’s “I love this Bar” before checking into our hotel for the night.

6 OKC NATIONAL MEMORIAL / ROUTE 66 MUSEUM / AMARILLO:

Our day begins with a stop at Oklahoma City National Memorial. Before leaving Oklahoma City, we will visit Milk Bottle Grocery. This 1930’s building is a popular Route 66 landmark. Lunch will be provided for you today at the Route 66 themed, Lucille’s Roadhouse before visiting the Route 66 museum in Clinton, OK. This museum offers a personal journey through the history of the nations most revered highway. Here we will encounter the iconic ideas, images, and myths of the Mother Road and learn about the dreams and the labor needed to make the road a reality. Tonight, we will treat you to dinner at the Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo, TX. We will overnight near Amarillo.

7 CADILLAC RANCH / TUCUMCARI MURALS / ALBQUERQUE:

Our first stop this morning will be Cadillac Ranch on Route 66. Here you will fine 10 graffiticovered cars half-buried, nose down, facing west. We then take a look at New Mexico’s Route 66 heritage at New Mexico’s Route 66 Museum. Along our journey today we will stop for a look at the Tucumcari Murals while enjoying lunch on our your own in this quaint town. This afternoon we will arrive in Albuquerque where we will treat you to a ride on the Sandia Peak Arial Tramway. This tramway will transport you deep above the deep canyons and breathtaking terrain for 3 miles. Afterward we will check into our Albuquerque hotel for the night.

8 PETRIFIED FOREST / FLAGSTAFF:

We depart our hotel this morning and make our way to Petrified Forest National Park. Here you will experience one of the world’s largest and most vibrant colored assemblies of petrified wood, historic structures, and archeological sites. Then we stop in Winslow, Arizona where we will be “Standin on the corner” on Route 66. We will then make our way to Flagstaff, AZ where we will spend the next 2 nights.

9 GRAND CANYON:

Today we will be joined by a local guide for a full day tour of the Grand Canyon. While visiting Grand Canyon National Park today, you will get to see this marvelous wonder from at least 4 different viewing points. We will also provide you with a box lunch while inside the park. Tonight, you will be treated to dinner at Black Bart’s Steakhouse and Saloon. This is sure to be a treat as you will not only enjoy great food but also musical performances by your wait staff.

10 BARSTOW:

This morning we depart our hotel and cross over into California arriving in Barstow. Located in the Mohave Desert of Southern California, Barstow became a busy rail center and a jumping off place for immigrants entering the state on US Route 66. This is made famous by the Novel “The Grapes of Wrath.” This evening you will have free time for shopping at the Barstow Outlets and dinner on your own. We will overnight in the area.

11 CALICO GHOST TOWN / LOS ANGELES:

Our first stop this morning will be at the Old West Mining town of Calico, CA. This town has been around since 1881 during the largest Silver Strike in California. With over 500 mines, Calico produced over $20 million in silver ore over a 12-year span. After lunch we will make our way to the interactive 4500 square foot California Route 66 Museum before continuing to Los Angeles where we will check into our hotel for the next two nights. Tonight, we will treat you to dinner at the Santa Monica Pier, the official end to Route 66.

12 LOS ANGELES:

Today we will have a full day touring the “City of Angels”, Los Angeles!On our tour we will see Muscle Beach at Venice Beach, take in the lifestyles of the rich and famous on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. We will also revisit the history of LA as we cruise down sunset strip and visit the historic clubs such as the Viper Room, and the Roxy. You will also see the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Kodak Theatre and Griffith Park Observatory!

13 LAS VEGAS:

We depart the hustle and bustle of Hollywood today and make our way to Sin City, Las Vegas! Upon arrival, we will check into our hotel right in the middle of the World-Famous Las Vegas Strip. Tonight, you will have free time to enjoy the many casinos or take in a show on your own.

14 ZION NATIONAL PARK / BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK:

Today we visit a place the rivals the Grand Canyon for scenic beauty – Zion National Park in Utah. The Mormons called this spectacular outdoor wonder the “Heavenly City of God” because of its massive formations of vertical rock that look like cathedrals and thrones. This afternoon we visit Bryce Canyon National Park to see the Red Rocks. We will spend the night near Bryce Canyon.

15 ARCHES NATIONAL PARK / MOAB:

This morning we make our way to Arches National Park. This beautiful park contains the largest number of stone arches in the country. Along with more than 900 arches are many canyons, spires, fins, and balancing rocks. We will spend the night in Moab, Utah.

16 ROCKY MOUNTAINS / DENVER:

Today we leave the scenic state of Utah and head across the Rocky Mountains into Colorado going by Grand Junction and Vail. We arrive in Denver this afternoon to take a look at the Gold Domed Capitol before spending the night in the area.

17 PLAINS OF KANSAS / TOPEKA:

We leave Denver going East across Colorado and into the “Sunflower State” of Kansas. We cross the plains with mile after mile of wheat fields and towering grain silos along the way. This afternoon we will visit the Cathedral of the Plains before making our way to Topeka for the night.

18 EVANSVILLE:

This morning we leave Kansas and cross the Mississippi River passing back by St. Louis and the Gateway Arch on our way to Evansville, Indiana where we will spend our last night on the road.

19 HOMEWWARD BOUND:

We continue making our way back to Virginia today travelling through Kentucky and West Virginia with all the memories of years gone by, Route 66 and the beauty of the American West!
