1 ALABAMA BOUND:

Welcome aboard. This morning we travel through the mountains of Northeastern Tennessee. Turning South, we will view a beautiful river city surrounded by scenic Appalachian Mountains, the Cumberland Plateau – Chattanooga, and the Tennessee River. Continuing on our journey we arrive in Birmingham, Alabama. We will spend our first night here.

2 JACKSON / NATCHEZ:

This morning we travel to Jackson, the capital of Mississippi. Afterwards we head to Natchez where a Local Guide joins us for a city tour. We visit one of the Antebellum Homes in Natchez before enjoying Dinner in a local home. We overnight in Natchez, Mississippi.

3 FROGMORE / BATON ROUGE / LAFAYETTE:

This morning our first stop will be Frogmore, an 1800 acre working cotton plantation with gins, slave rows, and 18 dependencies. Continuing on our journey, our next stop will be in Baton Rouge, where we will visit the State Capitol Building, a 34 story marble structure overlooking the Mississippi River. We’ll take a view of the Mississippi from the observation deck of the Capitol. We continue on to have dinner at Pont Breaux’s Cajun Restaurant before spending the night in Lafayette, Louisiana.

4 ST. MARTINVILLE / SWAMP TOUR:

Our first stop of the day will be in St. Martinville, where we visit the Longfellow- Evangeline State Commemorative Area – A plantation home built in “1815 of cypress and bousillage” (a mixture of mud and moss packed between beams and brick). We view “Evangeline Oak”, the most photographed tree in America. This afternoon on our way to New Orleans we take a narrated boat cruise through the swamps, bayous, and marshes of “Cajun Country”. We then spend the next two nights in New Orleans, Louisiana.

5 NEW ORLEANS:

In New Orleans is where old brick and plaster buildings with irontatted balconies and narrow streets are shaded by new office towers just across the street. We have a guided tour of the city, leaving time in the afternoon for you to explore the French Quarter on your own. Tonight we enjoy a dinner cruise aboard the Steamboat Natchez.

6 MOBILE / ATLANTA:

After a night on the town, it’s time to move on. Today we travel through Alabama’s only seaport, Mobile. We will make a stop in Theodore at the Bellingrath Gardens. The gardens, once a subtropical jungle, were patterned after the formal gardens of Italy, France, and England. We make our way to Georgia, where we will spend the night near Atlanta.
