1 NORTHWARD BOUND / NEW YORK / CONNECTICUT
Today we head North to the New England States. We go through Maryland and Pennsylvania and stop to spend the night in Connecticut.
2 RHODE ISLAND / NEWPORT / SUMMER MANSIONS / MASSACHUSETTS
We continue through Connecticut today to visit Newport, Rhode Island. In Newport we travel along Bellevue Avenue for a look at the Mansions of the Gilded Age. We have a Tour of one of these “Summer Homes”. We take a Very Scenic Ride around the Coastline in Newport to get a look at some of the more modern Mansions and the Spectacular Scenery along the Bay. We then head to Hyannis, Massachusetts to spend the night.
3 JFK MEMORIAL / HARBOR CRUISE / CAPE COD / PLYMOUTH ROCK
This morning we visit the JFK Memorial at Hyannisport and also take a short Boat Ride out to see the Kennedy Homes from a distance. We spend the rest of the morning and afternoon looking at the sights of Cape Cod, including a visit to the tip of Cape Cod – Provincetown! On our way to Boston we stop in the Town of Plymouth to take a look at the Famous Plymouth Rock. We spend the next two nights in the Boston, Massachusetts Area.
4 BOSTON CITY TOUR / LEXINGTON / CONCORD
Today we have a Local Guide for a Tour of Boston to see Faneuil Hall, The Boston Common, The Old State House, The Boston Massacre Site, Old North Church, Quincy Market, and Harvard University. We also Tour the Historic Towns of Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. We spend our second night in the Boston Area.
5 NEW HAMPSHIRE / MAINE / L.L. BEAN
We travel north through Massachusetts and New Hampshire into the Beautiful State of Maine. We stop for Lunch and Shopping at World Famous L.L. Bean Department Store in Freeport, Maine. We continue through the beautiful state of Maine & into New Brunswick where we spend the night in St. John.
6 HOPEWELL ROCKS PARK
This morning we depart St. John & make our way to Hopewell Rocks Park. Known as “Flowerpot Rocks” these rock formations are located in the Bay of Fundy; they were created by tidal erosion. During low tide you can even walk on the ocean floor. Tonight, we will make our way to the Dartmouth area for the next 3 nights.
7 GRAND PRE NATIONAL PARK / “EVANGELINE COUNTRY”
This morning we journey to the heart of “Evangeline Country” along the Minas Basin. While here we visit Grand Pre National Park, an Acadian Village Immortalized by Longfellow’s poem – “Evangeline”. We learn how the Acadians lived before the British forced them to leave their homes and move to the “Colonies”. We know them today, mainly in Louisiana, as the “Cajuns”, which is a mispronunciation of the word Acadians. We spend the night in the Dartmouth/ Halifax area.
8 HALIFAX
Today we tour the city of Halifax with a local guide and visit one of the most Picturesque places in all of North America – Peggy’s Cove with its beautiful Lighthouse. Then it’s on to Cape Breton Island to spend the next two nights in Port Hawkesbury.
9 CAPE BRETON ISLAND / CABOT TRAIL
Be prepared today to see some of the most Breathtaking Scenery of the Tour as we Travel the Famous Cabot Trail through Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Opened in 1936, the Cabot Trail is the original and Most Spectacular of all Nova Scotia Trails. We spend another night in Port Hawkesbury.
10 PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND / GREEN GABLES HOUSE / NEW BRUNSWICK
This morning we leave Nova Scotia for Canada’s Smallest Province – Prince Edward Island. After a Short Ferry Ride we enter Charlottetown, The Capital. We also visit Cavendish to see “The House of Green Gables” which was immortalized by author Lucy Maud Montgomery. We then take the newly opened bridge across the Northumberland Strait to New Brunswick to spend the night in Moncton.
11 WORLD’S LARGEST COVERED BRIDGE / PORTLAND, MAINE
This morning while we are still in Canada we visit Hartland Covered Bridge. This is the Longest Covered Bridge in the world. We return to the United States at Houlton, Maine. We travel South through the “Pine Tree State” of Maine to Portland, Maine to spend the night.
12 WHITE & GREEN MOUNTAINS OF VERMONT & NEW HAMPSHIRE
This morning we drive through New Hampshire Vermont making our way to Windsor, CT for the night.
13 HOMEWARD BOUND
Today we head for Home. We travel through a Very Beautiful Part of New York State, Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and into Virginia with our Many Memories of our Journey North to the New England States and The Atlantic Provinces of Canada.
