The Crooked Road is a driving route stretching 333 miles through the scenic mountains of Southwest Virginia where you can experience Authentic Music that has been preserved by the region’s musicians for generations. In addition to the great music The Crooked Road has to offer, you will also enjoy the Museums and other attractions that add so much to this experience and see why The National Trust for Historic Preservation named it one of America’s 2010 “Dozen Distinctive Destinations”.

1 FLOYD COUNTRY STORE / REX THEATER

Our first stop on the Crooked Road is in Floyd County where we visit the Floyd Country Store. At the Floyd Country Store you will find barrels of candy, a unique selection of household goods, toys, and clothing. We will then head to the Blue Ridge Music Center on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We travel to Galax for dinner and to the Historic Rex Theater for a show. We spend the night in the Galax, Virginia.

2 BRISTOL “BIRTHPLACE OF COUNTRY MUSIC MUSEUM”

Our next stop will be at the “The Birthplace of Country Music” that showcases Bristol, Tennessee and Bristol, Virginia’s role in the birth and development of country music through the Birthplace of Country Music Museum. Our last venue of the day will be at the Lincolin Theater in Marion, VA where we will enjoy a taping of “Song of the Mountains”. We spend the next two nights in the Highlands Area of Virginia.

3 COUNTRY CABIN / RALPH STANLEY

This morning we travel to Clintwood for a visit to the Ralph Stanley Museum. Afterwards we head to Norton where lunch is provided at Prime Sirloin Restaurant. Following lunch we visit Country Cabin II. The original Country Cabin was built in 1937 under President Roosevelt’s WPA program and they will have a special Sunday afternoon show just for us.

4 HEARTWOOD

This morning we go to Heartwood, Southwest Virginia’s Artisan Getaway, located in Abingdon. Heartwood features four galleries with some of the finest crafts in the country. We then head for home with memories of all the sights and sounds of The Crooked Road.
